Sathish Sivalingam Indian Weightlifter

Sathish Sivalingam is a former Indian weightlifter who is considered one of the most successful athletes in the history of the sport in India. Born on February 15, 1993, in Salem, Tamil Nadu, Sivalingam started weightlifting at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the top lifters in the country.

Sivalingam made his international debut for India at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, where he won a gold medal in the 77 kg category. He followed up this performance with a gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games, and a bronze medal at the 2015 World Championships.

In 2016, Sivalingam won the gold medal in the 77 kg category at the Rio Olympics, becoming the first Indian weightlifter to win an Olympic medal in two decades. He followed up this performance with a gold medal at the 2017 Commonwealth Championships, and a silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Sivalingam retired from weightlifting in 2018, ending a storied career that saw him become one of the most decorated weightlifters in Indian history. He will be remembered for his strength, determination, and passion for the sport, and for inspiring a generation of Indian weightlifters to chase their dreams.
