Nooshin Al Khadeer – Indian Cricketer

Nooshin Al Khadeer is a former Indian cricketer who has represented India in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. She made her debut for India in the 2006 ICC Women’s World Cup.

Al Khadeer has also played for the stateside Railways women’s cricket team.

Story of Nooshin Al Khadeer 

Al Khadeer started her career as a right-arm leg spinner, but later switched to bowling off spin. In 2006, she was included in the Indian squad for the ICC Women’s World Cup. 

She made her ODI debut against England in the tournament, and took 3/39 in her ten overs. In the next match against Sri Lanka, she again took three wickets, finishing with figures of 3/28 from eight overs. Against New Zealand, she took 2/37 from eight overs. 

India lost the match by four wickets, but Al Khadeer was named Player of the Match. Against Pakistan, she took 1/32 from her ten overs. In the final against Australia, she took 1/23 from nine overs as Australia won by 98 runs to claim their third consecutive World Cup title.

Al Khadeer was a member of the Indian team that toured England in 2006. She made her Test debut in the first Test of the series, which India lost by nine wickets. In the second Test, she took two wickets for 34 runs from 46 overs as England won by an innings and 81 runs to take an unassailable 2–0 lead in the series. She finished the series with two wickets at an average of 42.50.

In January 2007, Al Khadeer was included in India’s squad for the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. She played in all five matches, but failed to take a wicket as India reached the final, where they lost to Pakistan by three wickets. 

In August 2007, she was named in India’s squad for the World Twenty20 tournament in South Africa. However, she did not play any matches as India failed to progress beyond the group stage.
