Lakshya Sen was born on January 10, 2002, in Almora, Uttarakhand, India. His father, Prakash Padukone, is a former badminton player who represented India at the 1980 Summer Olympics. As a child, Sen began playing badminton at his father’s academy—the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA) in Bangalore. It was there that he honed his skills under the guidance of coach Vimal Kumar.
Sen made his international debut in 2016 at the age of 14, when he competed in the Asian Junior Championships. He won his first title that same year at the Serbia Open International Challenge. The following year, he won gold at both the Dutch Open Grand Prix and Russian Open tournaments.
