Deepak Lather Indian Weightlifter

Deepak Lather is a young and talented weightlifter from India. He was born on September 17, 1998 in Bhiwani, Haryana, India.

Lather began his weightlifting career at a young age and quickly made a name for himself on the national stage. In 2015, he won the bronze medal at the National Youth Championships and followed that up with a gold medal at the National Junior Championships in 2016.

In 2017, Lather made his international debut at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He won the gold medal in the 69kg weight class, setting a new junior national record in the process.

Lather’s success at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships caught the attention of the Indian weightlifting team, and he was selected to represent India at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. In the 69kg weight class, Lather won the bronze medal, becoming the first Indian weightlifter to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games since 2010.

In 2019, Lather continued to impress on the international stage, winning the silver medal at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Urgench, Uzbekistan. He also won the gold medal at the National Senior Championships, breaking the national record in the process.

Lather is known for his strong technique and powerful lifts. He is a versatile weightlifter who is equally skilled at both the snatch and clean and jerk lifts.
