Izzy’s Return Dricus du Plessis Eyes Israel Adesanya Showdown at UFC 300

As UFC 300 looms on the horizon, fans are buzzing with anticipation, speculating on who will headline this monumental event. While whispers of legendary comebacks from the likes of Brock Lesnar or Khabib Nurmagomedov fill the air, a more plausible scenario emerges – the return of Israel Adesanya in April.

The Callout: Du Plessis vs. Adesanya?

Following Dricus du Plessis’ triumphant title victory over Sean Strickland at UFC 297, he wasted no time in calling out Adesanya. Fueling the fire of speculation, the South African fighter hinted at a potential showdown with ‘The Last Stylebender.’

Revealing insights into the behind-the-scenes discussions, du Plessis’ manager, Danny Rubenstein, shared details of a conversation with Adesanya’s manager, Tim Simpson, prior to UFC 297.

On The Anik & Florian Podcast, Rubenstein expressed a preference for an Adesanya matchup, citing the existing tension between the two fighters and the anticipation they’ve built. He emphasized that they wouldn’t have called out Adesanya unless he was ready for the challenge.

Managerial Assurance: Izzy’s Ready for UFC 300

Rubenstein conveyed his proactive approach, ensuring Adesanya’s readiness for UFC 300. He reached out to Izzy’s manager, seeking confirmation before making any official callouts.

In his own words, “Very honestly, he [du Plessis] wasn’t gonna call out Izzy if Izzy wasn’t gonna be ready. I hit up Izzy’s manager like, ‘Hey, is Izzy gonna be ready? We’re gonna call out Izzy if he’s gonna be ready.’ They told me Izzy would be ready… So that was the callout he made.”
