The Quetta Gladiators faced a challenging 166-run target after a commendable bowling performance led by Abrar Ahmed, who claimed a three-fer. Despite a strong start in the run chase, the Gladiators stumbled in the middle overs, losing wickets rapidly to Karachi Kings.
Led by Rilee Rossouw, the Gladiators found themselves at 89-5 in the 13th over. It was at this critical juncture that Sherfane Rutherford, alongside Akeal Hosein, took charge. Together, they skillfully navigated the game, bringing the equation down to 15 runs required off the final over.

His remarkable innings of 58 runs off 31 deliveries, at a striking rate of 187.10, included one four and six powerful sixes. Having recently impressed during West Indies’ tour of Australia, Rutherford continues to shine in the PSL, amassing a total of 142 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 152.68.
“It’s never easy, coming in and playing shots from the get-go. I try my best, sometimes it doesn’t happen but I will try my best to make it happen more. Me and Shane (Watson) had a conversation about the mental part of the game; he told me to focus on the moment and stay as calm as possible,” shared Rutherford in the post-match presentation.
Gladiators Soar to Second Place
With this breathtaking victory, the Quetta Gladiators now stand second in the points table, boasting four wins in five matches. The team’s upcoming challenge is against Islamabad United in Rawalpindi on Saturday, March 2.
