Dinesh Karthik was born in Chennai, India, in 1985. He comes from a family of cricketing legends; his grandfather represented Tamil Nadu in Ranji Trophy matches, while his father played List A cricket for Uttar Pradesh. Karthik himself started playing cricket at a young age and was quickly recognized as a prodigy. He made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu at the age of 17 and went on to play for India Under-19s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karthik made a sensational return to international cricket in 2017, when he replaced an injured Wriddhiman Saha during an India-Australia Test match. He scored an impressive half-century in that match and kept wicket well enough to be retained for the rest of the series. Since then, he has been a regular member of the Indian squad, even captaining the team on occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
