Talking about her records and career, she is the Queen of Indian badminton. She was the first Indian to win an Olympic Medal in Badminton.
Former World No.1 and the winner of 24 International Titles, Saina has inspired an entire generation to take up badminton and perform at the biggest stages. The star has represented India in 3 Olympic Games and has been in top form over the years.
She is the only Indian Female and only the second Indian to be ranked number 1 after Prakash Padukone.
Saina has been awarded Arjuna Award, Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award for her brilliant career in badminton.
The 2 time Commonwealth Games Gold medalist has gone through highs and lows in his career but has fought back and won almost everything.
Kashyap’s performance impressed everyone as he became the first Indian male to ever play in the quarterfinals of the Olympics in Badminton. He created this record in 2012.
Overcoming asthma to being one of India’s top shuttlers, Kashyap has come a long way.
Kashyap was the Icon Player for the Indian Badminton League team, Banga Beats in 2013 edition.
He was awarded the Arjuna Award by Government of India in 2012.
The Best “Match”
Saina became the lifelong partner of Kashyap on 14 December 2018.
Saina and Kashyap first met during a training camp in 2000-01 when Saina was just 10 years old.
For many years, Saina and Kashyap trained together and remind you, they still train under Pullela Gopichand at the Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad.
Destiny was written for both of them as they went on to be great partners off the court.
Saina and Kashyap had different group of friends back then and didn’t talk much.
As they started training together and went for international and national tournaments, they started conversing and they became good friends.
This friendship finally turned into a relationship. The couple almost dated for a decade before making it public and convincing their parents for their marriage.
There are instances where the couple also help each other on the court.
During a match in Kuala Lumpur, Saina was seen on the side-lines guiding and helping him with some inputs.
The common point of interest for both of them will keep the bond strong as always.
