Shree Cement claim Bridge title for 2nd straight time

Team Shree Cement prevailed over Hemant Jalan’s team 100-85 IMPs to take the honours in the four-round final of the team championship of the 2nd All India Shree Cement Bridge tournament that concluded at the Bishwa Bangla convention centre in New Town, Kolkata Under the auspices of Bridge Federation of India and organized by Corporate Bridge Association from 18th April to 21st April 2019.

The event complies as qualifying event for purpose of Indian Open Team Selection Trials 2020 for the World Bridge Games 2020, as per the Selection Policy of BFI. Team Shree Cement, comprising Ravi Goenka, Sandeep Thakral, Jaggy Shivdasani, Subhash Gupta and Arun Bapat not only successfully defended their title but also won a berth in India selection trials. Shree Cement won the tournament for the consecutive 2nd time. In the other showdown, Team Easy Bridge edged out Poddar Housing 78-62 IMPs to clinch the 3rd spot.

The pair’s event was won by Sukamal Das and Subrata Saha, followed by R Venkatesh and Arvind Shrinivasan and Daya Daya Dhaon and Dipak Santra. Subhasish Sarkar won the best defended hand, partnering Souren Dutt.

Overall 420 participants take part in this prestigious tournament comparing 70 in Team Event and 140 in Pairs event and total Prize money is 4 lakh.
