Commonwealth Games Record Holder
Sathish, coming from a middle-class family, won 2011 National Championships. For next 6 years he was national champion before settling for Silver in January 2018 Nationals.
He came in limelight when he created the Commonwealth Games Record in 2014 and won Gold medal for India. Sathish lifted 149 in Snatch and claimed Gold Medal. He was in superb momentum in 2015 Nationals where he created National record lifting 153 Kg in snatch and 187 Kg in clean and jerk 187 (Total 340 Kg).
Injuries has hampered his career time to time but he is still one of the best weightlifters India has created. In 2015 he wass awarded with Arjuna Award. Currently has is getting training at NIS, Patiala under Indian Chief Coach Vijay Sharma, who has been inspiration for Sathish and many Indian weightlifters.
Family: Sathish hailing from Vellore is son of Ex Serviceman and House wife. Sathish’s father currently works at Vellore Institute as watchman. He is the one who inspired him to take weightlifting as a career. Sathish has younger brother currently studying in Chennai.
