Getting inspiration from his aunt who was also a national badminton player who also played with the badminton legend Pullela Gopichand, Sai Praneeth started playing badminton.

A summer camp is where it all started.  In U-10 tournament he won his first national tournament.

U-13 and U-16 tournaments also showed him great success as he continued to reign as a national champion. Based on that success, Sai Praneeth decided to take up badminton as his career.

Praneeth says he was extremely lucky to be one of the first students of Gopi Sir. Parupalli Kashyap is a factor which is important in Sai’s life as per him because of his experience and knowledge of the game.

Training with stars like Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and Kashyap inspires Sai to achieve the best and represent India at the highest level.

Sai Praneeth Important Matches

  • Sai Praneeth has often displayed some stellar performances by defeating top ranked players.
  • In 2013, Sai defeated Taufik Hidayet in the Indonesia Open in front of Taufik’s home crowd and thus ruined his farewell.
  •  In the 2016 All England Super Series, he stunned the 2nd seed Lee Chong Wei in the first round.

Sai Praneeth has failed to deliver consistently due to his fitness issues and injuries. Due to all this he couldn’t sustain the long rallies and thus failed to gain the important points.

His highest ranking up till now is 12 and he certainly has a bright future ahead.
