India Took An Unassailable Lead of 3-1 in Five Match Series By Wining fourth match
Indian Women’s Hockey Team touring South Korea took an unassailable lead in the series by 3-1 in five match series, after winning fourth match. This win abroad over a higher ranked team is confidence boosting for India.
India won the fourth match against South Korea by 3-1.
With this victory India took unassailable lead in the five match series by 3-1.
India women will play their fifth and final match on March 11.
Indian women’s hockey team earlier won first two matches of the five match series. In first match of the series Indian hockey team secured a win by 1-0. While in second match India defeated South Korea by 3-2.
In third match of the tournament India team went down to South Korea by 1-2. Two goals in the first quarter from South Korea’s Seul Ki Cheon (12′) and Yurim Lee (14′) were enough for the hosts.
India’s Lalremsiami tried to fight back on 16th minute as she score a goal but it remained a maiden goal in the match form Indian side. All the goals in the match were scored in the first two quarters of the match.
India faced South Korea in their fourth match on 9th March and recorded a fine victory by 3-1 to make a winning lead in 5 match series by 3-1. Gurjit Kaur (2′) and Deepika (14′) scored two goals in first quarter of the match. India were leading the match at the end of the first quarter by 2-0. In second and third quarter of the game no goals were made by any of the team. While in the beginning of the fourth quarter India’s Poonam Rani scored a goal on 47th minute to take India’s total goal tally to 3. In dying minutes South Korean team fought back but could do nothing than scoring a goal on 57th minute. India won the match by 3-1. Their final match will be played on 11th of march.
