Divij Sharan moves to the 2nd round, Rohan Bopanna gets a bye: Wimbledon Tennis

Divij Sharan along with Marcelo Demoliner of Brazil defeated the German pair of Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies in the 1st round in straight 3 sets. This win was important for Divij and his partner as the Germans were in good form and were the reigning French Open Champions.
They will now face the Belgian pair of Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen in the 2nd round.

Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Purav Raja lost to the Australian pair of Lleyton Hewitt and Jordan Thompson in the first round. The Australian pair gave the Indians no chance to win as they won the match in 3 straight sets.

Leander Paes and Benoit Paire had to face a harsh defeat from the hands of the Kazakh pair of Alexander Bublik and Mikhail Kukushkin. The match was a fierce battle as it went on to the last decider set. Leander and Benoit couldn’t hold on the lead as they had won the 1st 2 sets. The Kazakh pair raised their game and went on to win the next 3 sets ending the Wimbledon Men’s Doubles hopes for Leander Paes.

Rohan Bopanna along with his Belarusian partner Aryna Sabalenka received a bye in the 1st round of the Mixed Doubles event.

Same was the case with Divij Sharan who has paired up with the Chinese Yingying Duan.

Leander Paes and his Australian partner Samantha Stosur will face Evan Hoyt and Eden Silva of Great Britain who are participating as a wild card entry.
