Australian Open : Rohan Bopanna reaches mixed doubles semis pairing with Timea Babos

Australian Open : Mixed Doubles Quarter Finals

Rohan Bopanna – Timea Babos

Rohan Bopanna and Hungarian Timea Babos entered the mixed doubles semi-finals at the Australian Open winning a hard fought match against Colombian Juan Sebastian Cabal and Abigail Spears of USA in straight sets.
Indo-Hungarian pair (5th seeded in Mixed doubles) took 75 minutes to demolish Cabal-Spears duo 6-4, 7-6 (5) in the quarter-final.

It was a straight sets win but not an easy encounter for Bopanna and Babos. They got 12 breakpoint chances but could convert only 4 of them. Whereas Cabal and Spears had the better break point conversion rate with converting 3 out of 7 breakpoints. But at the end it was all about the winners where Rohan-Timea pair was much superior throughout the match.

Bopanna and Babos will take on the winners of the other quarter-final between Australian duo of Storm Sanders and Marc Polmans and Spanish-Brazilian pair of Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez and Marcelo Demoliner in the semi-finals.

Rohan is the only participation left in the Grand Slam for India.
