Asian Games Invitation Tournament, Indian Athletes Impressed With Rich Medal Haul

India’s one of the elite athletes Davinder Singh Kang clinched a gold medal in the event of javelin throw; with a best effort of 75.87m against his personal best 84.57m. Meanwhile in the same event India’s 18 year old Sachin Silwal added a bronze with a best effort of 68.12m.

Sonia Baishya; India’s athlete in 400m also added a gold medal in tally with a time of 53.53s. It was a personal best for the West Bengal athlete bettering her previous best by 0.45 seconds. She beat her compatriot Nithya Shree Ananda who clocked 54.34, to bag silver medal.

Jithu Baby bagged a silver with a time of 46.88 in 400m.

Vadivelu Kannadasan Elakkiyadasan; India’s athlete also bagged bronze medal in 100m Men’s event. It was his first outdoor competition of the season. Elakkiyadasan had a worse possible start with slowest reaction time of 0.152 seconds and disadvantage of running in the outer most lane; but he still managed to clock his personal best of 10.38 seconds to bag a bronze medal.

India’s another silver and bronze medal of the day came from women’s long jump arena, by V Neena and Nayana James respectively. V Neena was nowhere even close to her personal best but managed a leap of 6.42m. She finished ahead of Nayana James whose best effort was recorded as 6.16m.
