All six franchises have got their respective Indian and Foreign Coaches on board via the Coach draft held earlier this month. The Coaches along with their management are now up to the task to put on a strong team for the upcoming Edition. Each franchise can retain maximum of one Indian player (either male of female) before the player draft on 28th March 2018. The player retention will have an effect on the order of draft picks wherein franchisees who have retained a player will have their first pick post all franchisees who have decided not to retain any player. Eight time National Champion, Sharath Kamal along with highest ranked Indian Player G. Sathiyan will be in the fray for a retention for RP-SG Mavericks and Dabang Smashers T.T.C respectively. First Seasons Champions, Falcons TTC, will look to retain their giant slayer Sanil Shetty who won many important games on their way to being crowned Champions.

Speaking on the new venues, Mr. M P Singh, Secretary General, TTFI, said “We are excited to take CEAT UTT to new cities where the fans can enjoy the game at its highest level. CEAT UTT received great response in the inaugural season and we are ready to kick off another edition of a world class Table Tennis experience for the fans.”

Mr. Kamlesh Mehta, Director, 11Sports, added, “We have reduced the number of matches from nine to seven in the second edition making each tie more compact and competitive. The retention policy adds an extra step of strategy for the franchisees and it will be interesting to see what the six franchisees come up with for the player draft that will be held on 28th March 2018 in Mumbai. Unlike other major sporting leagues in India like IPL and ISL, CEAT UTT is club based rather than city based which makes it easier to move to different cities and grow the sport”

CEAT UTT will have 15 league ties, with each tie played on a seven (was nine in the inaugural edition) individual match basis. Each individual match will consist of three games on a race to 11 with each game winner being awarded one point. Each league tie will have 21 points to play for and the four franchisees with highest points in the league stage will advance to the semifinals. The champion will receive INR 1 crore, runner-up INR 75 lakh and the losing semifinalists, INR 50 lakh each. The remaining INR 25 lakh, from a total purse of INR 3 crore, will be presented to individual performers.
